View Article  Weekend Plans
Sean's going to be racing this weekend so I'm looking for things to do with Ian and Roo for the next 3 days. I think one day we may do the Aquarium (too cold for the zoo), and then I was thinking of possibly going to Orlando. I can't afford to do Disney or anything, but there's a neat event: Otronicon @ Orlando Science Center .

Video-game-tournament

Sure, some people think that Video game tournaments are only for geeks, but I think it would be fun to take the kids. It's only $17 for me and $12 for Ian, so the day would be cheap enough. It runs the 16th-20th so we have enough time to go (there are school trips and group days January 21-23 which would be a neat field trip to take!) There would definitely be enough for Ian and I to do, what with the game tournaments with Rock Band, Wii Fitness, Guitar Hero, and the like. I'm sure we'd both find something to hold our interest!

Oh, and there is going to be a wedding (Haolo Wedding) between a couple that met while gaming. How interesting will that be? I can't even imagine what that's going to be like!

View Article  I Need Storage Space!
I promised myself that I was going to clean today. I did an OK job, but the problem is the same: Where do I put all my stuff?! Sean swears that we need an extra house for all of my things, but I think all we need is some climate controlled storage. I mean, mostly everything I have that I don't know what to do with is stuff from my childhood that I just can't bear to part with. I don't necessarily need to have it on hand, but I would like to know that I still have it, if that makes sense.

I had a great morning. My friend came over for coffee and we had a great time as usual. We drank coffee (lots and lots of coffee), watched Superbad, laughed a lot, and cuddled with Roo. She (Roo) did a lot of smiling and cooing so I know she enjoyed her morning as well.

I'm so happy I had today off. I really needed it. Thanks for sharing it with me, Kim!

I didn't work today but I did think about work. It's a hazard of being in the mental health/substance abuse field I guess; people are always on your mind because their very lives hinge on decisions we make.

I have a client who wants to move back to California when he's released from jail, but he has a pretty serious drug problem. He knows he does so he's willing to do some rehabilitation. We talked a lot about what he was looking for and where to find it, and we found an amazing place in offering just what he's looking for.

This program, Promises, seemed like the most obvious choice. This particular client wanted a positive environment and a full-scale facility complete with detox program, (Hopefully he won't need the heroin detox, but it would be nice to have available "just in case" as he said.) and because of the amount of drugs he's been using he wanted to be sure to find a place that could help him with his addition to heroin as well as to prescription drugs. He also wanted a relaxing atmosphere and picturesque surroundings because, in the past, he'd been to treatment centers that were a bit less than motivating in those regards.

The more we looked in to Promises Treatment Center, the more excited he became. I'm happy for him, because this is going to be one of the hardest journey's he's ever going to take. He's going to need a positive place like Promises!
