I had my 30 week OB appointment and weekly progesterone shot today. Everything looks good; I measure right on and Bug's heart rate sounds nice and strong. They were still concerned about my blood pressure after taking it today because it went up to 140/60 (I'm usually 104/50ish), so they had me do full labs to be sure nothing is amiss. When they took my BP after the labs it was down to 120/50, so that's headed in the right direction at least! The doctor wasn't too concerned because I have no other 'issues' in regards to high blood pressure, but they just want to be extra careful due to my history of pre-term labor.

I didn't want to see this particular doctor today because she is NOT my favorite, but she was much nicer today than I remember. I really liked how she referred to Bug by name and, when discussing the possibility of pre-eclampsia with me, she used Ian's name too. It made it much more personal.

I had told Sean that if she were the doctor on duty when I went in to labor I'd be keeping my legs crossed until her shift ended, but after today I don't think that will be necessary. So, as of now there is only one doctor that I really, really don't want to be the one to deliver Bug, and four that I really, really hope are there.

Um, I think I did something very stupid.

I got the material I've been waiting for and, like any excited-by-the-arrival-of-books-first-time-student, I dove right in. It's exciting and interesting... But the first syllabus is 25 PAGES LONG!

Holy Shit!

I was up at 4:30am again, but managed to convince myself to stay in bed until 6am. I probably could have dozed a bit longer, but Bug got the hiccups and I decided to start my day.

Yesterday was an awesome day. We went to get bagels in the morning and then had to go to the rental house for a bit. When we came home Sean and Ian played a game, and I tried to get all the phone numbers I could written down from memory or my date book (my cell phone phone is gone for good!). After that we went to take Ian to his first movie (Wall-E) and had a great time! We came home and Ian decided to play on the computer and I got to study for a few hours. I got to bed by 9pm and I slept soundly until 4:30, other than the few times I had to smack Sean and tell him to "roll over".

I'm not sure what we're going to do today. Everyone is busy doing their own thing so it's going to be just me and Ian for the day... I think I may take him to the Aquarium/Explore a Shore if it's nice out. It's free (my parents buy an 8 person season pass every year) so I like that!

I couldn't figure out why I woke up at 3:00 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. I lay there and worried about work, couldn't get comfortable...  Then at around 3:15 I heard a whisper: "Mommy? Can I come in your bed?" Apparently he had been up since 3:00am and was wondering around half-asleep looking for something.

With Ian snuggled beside me I was able to relax and fall back to sleep, because my heart was back where it was supposed to be.

Alzheimer's is a disease that touches a lot of people. It's one of those diseases that people are truly afraid of getting; more than once I've heard comments like, "When I get old all I hope is that I don't lose my mind! I wouldn't wish Alzheimer's on my worst enemy!" Unfortunately it's becoming a disease that seems to touch more and more of us in one way or another.

I've had a few family members affected with Alzheimer's Disease, and I fear that my father may be at risk as well. That's why I'm so interested in the Alzheimer's Association Alzheimer's Memory Walk! This walk (usually 2-3 miles) is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research- something that can't get enough attention as far as I'm concerned. The event is a big one; there are walks in more than 600 communities!

With an event this big, they need volunteers of all ages to help and I'm thinking of doing something. There's a walk near me in St. Petersburg on 9/13/08... Unfortunately I'll be too pregnant to actually walk, but that won't stop me from being there, even if it's just to cheer on the walkers!

If Alzheimer's Disease is something you think about, worry about, or have a passion for helping with, then sign up to walk today. There's no registration fee, and you get your own website to personalize to help with your fund raising. If you don't want to walk, you can always volunteer; you'll feel great about doing it! As they say on their website: "By teaming up with the Alzheimer's Association, you can walk with a purpose – and move us closer to a world without Alzheimer's. Together, we can MOVE a nation."
