I finished reading a relatively new book by Jen Lancaster called "Bitter is the New Black" and it was hilarious! Not at all what I was expecting when I picked it up from Borders by accident (yes, that can happen), but I was thrilled with it. I actually read it in two days/one night, however; I was asked to leave the bedroom that night for laughing too much (let's face it, who's husband really wants people to hear their wife laughing in the bedroom?).
Part of the reason I liked this book so much was because it's a true story of a high earning VP who ends up losing all of her money due to "downsizing", and her journey toward discovering that Prada (and Coach, and Tiffany diamonds...) aren't all they're cracked up to be. It was interesting to follow along in her personal growth and laugh while doing it!
Since finishing the book I've become an avid reader of her website, Jennsylvania, because it makes me laugh as much as the book did. I hop over there at least once a day and I'm never disappointed.
I went to Borders just now and picked up another one of her books, "Such a Pretty Fat". I can't wait for Ian to go to bed so I can start it!

It's Friday again, which means it's time for another Aloha Friday! I ask a question, you answer, and I'll go to your blog and answer your Aloha Friday question (or, just visit and say "hi" if you don't want to participate). For more Aloha Friday participants, visit An Island Life .
Do you have your own pool? If not, what do you do to keep cool in the summer months?
I don't have my own pool so I make myself a nuisance at my brother's house. They live about a mile away and have a wonderful pool, complete with a shallow ledge for the kids to play on. They have a water fountain too that the kids love to play in, so it's guaranteed to be a hit with Ian! We do have mini-pool here that's about four feet high and a slip-and-slide, all for the days that I don't feel like leaving the house.
