For some reason, this video brought tears to my eyes. I guess because it was so unexpected to the customers and such an expression of happiness and joyful expression by those performing, I couldn't help thinking that if we could approach life like this, approach each other like this, the world could be just as happy as the people who found themselves witness to it.

Ahhhh.... Sean and Ian have left for the morning to go to Busch Gardens. I was going to clean or do laundry, but now I've decided to do my prenatal yoga and work on my jewelery. I'm going to put the stereo on to my classical music station and start making a necklace that's been on my mind for a few weeks now. And, I'm going to be uninterrupted! Other than my baby girl giving me heck with unrelenting kicking, it's going to be blissfully quiet.

Yesterday I was reminded why I do the job I do.

I was getting someone out of Jail yesterday to take him back to his placement. He is someone whom I violated and ultimately put in jail. We had three hearings about the situation and I testified at all of them, so I was a little nervous about how he'd be when I picked him up. He had responded appropriately to me in Court, but you just never know how people (especially unmedicated mentally ill people) will act at any given moment!

When the deputy brought him to the release area he smiled at me, held out his hand for me to shake, and said, "It's great to see you, Jenn. Thank you for coming to get me."

As we drove away he was quiet for a few minutes. I let him be, and he finally cleared his throat. "Jenn," he said,"I want you to know how much I appreciate all you've done for me. Standing beside you in Court was an honor. I heard you speaking in support of me, and I heard how you continued to speak even when the counter opinions were offered. You didn't back down and I admire your firm determination in my cause. I want you to know, God's honest truth, that if you ever need help in any way, if you ever need anything at all, you can come to me and I'd help you no matter what the cost."

Pregnancy hormones or not, I cried.

What if you found out your friend lied to you about something important? Would you "forgive and forget," or hold on to it in the back of your mind? Would you confront them, or just see how it played out?

For myself, I'd have to say I'd hold on to it, depending on how close I was with this person, because I believe once someone lies there's either something wrong with the relationship or wrong with them. Usually I won't confront lies/liars because I find that when I don't the lies come out anyways or get so convoluted that the person lying ends up stressing far more than my face-to-face would have ever caused!

This weekend was fantastic!

Friday I worked from home so that I could take care of my sickly little man. It was a bit harder than I thought since I had to make phone calls and Ian wasn't in the mood to be left out of anything, but I managed to work my full eight hours. Friday night I went to the gym, picked up dinner, and then Sean and I settled in to watch our Friday Night Line Up.

Saturday morning Sean left early, so Ian and I met up with my parents at the Bagel shop for breakfast. We stayed there for over an hour, and then we came home to wash my car. Ian 'helped' scrub the tires and then I washed the outside and inside. I removed about two pounds of Doritos crumbs (we don't eat Doritos's so I'm stumped), fourteen wrappers of different types, three sweatshirts, two trees worth of papers, and a very sad looking piece of fruit that I can only conclude used to be an apple. I also learned two very important lessons during this experience: 1) Ball point pen does not come out of leather, and 2) always watch your child if they have custody of the hose because chances are they will end up pouring water over their head even though they know they aren't supposed to be in cold water since they've been sick for a week. Anyway, after that three hour experience we took a shower, and by that time Sean was back home. The boys took a nap while I watched some Lifetime movies, and then we started to get ready for our night out.

It was awesome!!!! We got to the Columbia Restaurant around 7pm for 8pm reservations. Sean's step-brother works there now so we were hoping to get him as a waiter, knowing he'd be able to suggest what's best to eat. The restaurant is a whole city block long so we walked from end to end just to see it, and as we were passing by the banquet hall Sean's step-brother came out! Amazing timing since there are no windows in that section of the building and he had no idea we were going to be there! He was as shocked as we were, and he said he had gotten goosebumps and was suddenly freezing, so he came outside for a minute! He ended up taking us to the 'Cafe' (read: bar) and we sat there talking for an hour.

Once our table was called we were led to the section of the restaurant where the Flamenco Dancers have their show, and we were at a table right next to the stage! We ordered our meal and a pitcher of Sangria (made with Champagne, Rum, and Brandy), sat back, and enjoyed the atmosphere. I tried to have a glass of the Sangria but I felt too guilty; that left Sean the whole pitcher. That was fun!

What a fantastic night. The dancing was amazing, the food phenomenal, the company wonderful. We got home at around 11:30 and went right to bed, happy and content.

Sunday we got up around 7:30am and Ian wished me a "Happy Mommy's Day" first thing. We went out to get breakfast and then we came home so I could get ready for Church. My mom and I went to the service, and then Sean, Ian, and I head over to his mom's house to go out on the boat.

We didn't get far because the river was so low, but we sat on the boat for a while and Ian got to fish. He caught four fish with Sean's help, and then we sat on the deck for about an hour. I read while they blew bubbles, and then it was time to head home for the night.

I feel so happy and rested. What a wonderful way to spend a weekend! Good thing too because Mom has surgery today to put the Port in, and I have Court hearings all this week. It's going to be busy!

His name was Outstanding Ovation. I only leased him for one season (long story involving stifle shots and owners who thought we were being cruel. They stole him back at midnight one night, left him standing in a muddy field for a year, then called asking if our original offer to buy him was still solid), but he was my shining star!

It's here! It took 88 days, but my unemployment went through! It's a done deal; the money is actually sitting IN my account right now. I can't believe it. Things were so bad yesterday that I hid from the world and cried most of the day, and almost 24 hours later things have turned around.

I am trying to figure out what lesson I was supposed to learn from this. That my family is always close by and ready to step up? That I have wonderful friends who are here for me no matter what? That I shouldn't get ahead of myself and think that I am 'above' breaking down? Did I need a reminder that no matter how positive I am about everything that there is still a lot that I have to learn? Was it a test of my patience like my friend suggested?

I don't know, but I have been sincerely humbled by this experience.

Confusion

I admit that I get confused easily. It doesn't take much, but today was bad even for me!

I got up first this morning and started the coffee. I had some left over from yesterday's pot so I heated that up for myself and made 8 fresh cups. Sean got up as I was finishing up my own cup, and he set to work on the science project that is his cup of coffee.

We each had a cup and then Ian asked for hot dogs. I have veggie dogs for him so I went to heat them up and then pour Sean and me another cup of coffee... and found there were 9 cups of coffee left in the pot! Now, I know that I have only a third grade math level, but I know for sure that 9 is more than 8, which is what we started with! I would have been excited if I thought my coffee pot spontaneously made coffee for me but I know that couldn't be the case, so I asked Sean if he had put more beans in, and he looked at me like I was a nut.

I spent a few moments picking up the coffee pot, twirling it around to see what was going on, exclaiming my surprise at this coffee brewing magic, until Sean gave a big sigh and said, "Well, I did put more water in the pot after I had my first cup..." Ewwwwww!!!!!! Now, why couldn't he have told me this when I was hurting myself trying to figure out how we got more coffee?!

Other than that it's been a great morning. We've had coffee and breakfast, and now we're all sitting here watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Ian loves it so far; he keeps saying, "Aww, look at the baby reindeer. He's so cute!" I bought the 7 DVD set of the classics last night so I hope he falls in love with them just as much as I did!

Sweet Relief

With last night finally finished, I can now make some order in my house! I've been feeling so scattered with everything all over that I can't wait to start putting everything away. I plan to take a week off (well, I say that, but I know I'll start pulling stuff out again during the week) because I want to relax!

Once the concert is done I can start focusing on all of the things that I let slide, like the AFLAC issue, some calls I need to return, etc... I'm happy that I'm going to be getting my life back!

Ian's party is next weekend and I'm so excited. I can't wait to hang out at the park and Bar-B-Q with my friends and all of the kids. I especially excited that he's actually going to have a party this year! He's healthy for the first time since his first birthday and I can't wait for him to experience a true birthday party.
