If I had money I know what I would do with it: I'd buy more hydroponic gardening equipment. In all honesty, I'd love to buy some land and do a whole "farm" of this. It's amazing! I think there would be a profit to it as well, because I know that people want to eat safely/healthy with the rise of cancers and with the use of hormones in our foods but a lot of people don't know if they want to eat organic, local, natural... It's a great topic and I LOVE doing this and learning about it. It would be so easy to write up a business plan and to implement, but it just isn't in the cards for me, obviously.

Anyway, the garden is great. I got rid of the fugus-infected plants and planted the new seeds, so I'm just waiting for them to start budding. I have about 2 new seedlings, so that's exciting! The lettuce is still growing well, and the cucumbers are yielding about 2 a day. The tomatoes are starting to come out, and I think the eggplant and broccoli aren't too far behind.

Here's the system all set up in August:

Here's Ian planting in the bottom container:

And now, here it is!

Amazing, isn't it? My pride and joy is my lettuce, however.

I love being able to walk outside and pick a salad for dinner every night, LOL!
My garden has a fungus. I'm pretty upset about it, but at least it seems to have only affected the squash. I see the beginnings on my cucumbers and melons, but I'm hoping that the treatment I did yesterday keeps them safe.

The lettuce, the plants that I thought would never grow, are thriving! I've been eating it on sandwiches, and I picked some of all 4 types for a salad tonight. I'll just be me and the kids so I'm making Ian pizza, and I'll have a salad with some pasta or something.

Today I'm going to my friend's workplace to chat with her for a while. I have a bottle of Rain Organic Vodka that I'm bringing her. I am NOT a vodka drinker so it's all hers now!
We set up the hydroponic garden today! It was so great. It took hours, but it's going to be so worth it! Sean did most of the hard labor (of course), and then Ian and I decided what to plant and where to plant each seed. Roo watched from her exersaucer and appeared to find the whole experience very exciting.

We've planted lettuce (4 kinds), cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, summer squash, watermelon, some sort of hybrid melon that's good for Florida weather, and something else that I can't remember right now, LOL! It's all set to be watered by a timer, so now all we have to do it wait for it to start growing.

I took some pictures of it so, once I get off my lazy butt and download them all, I'll put them here.
I'm so excited! I bit the bullet and spent money that we didn't have on a hydroponic garden system! I've been eying it for about a year now, so I decided it wasn't really something that I'm going to lose interest in any time soon.

We picked the system up at the farm today, and now I'm looking through the organic seed catalog to see what I want. It's almost time for the August planting season (duh!), so I'm anxious to begin.

Next week were are going to set it up and Sean's going to build a "bird cage" around it to keep out he opossums and such. We should have fresh, organic veggies within 2 months time. WOOHOO!
