Cat and mouse with Tom and Jerry

Thanks for the guest post by Ron Faulkner

Tom
and Jerry is by far my favorite cartoon ever. I remember when I first
started cheering for Jerry mouse when I was a kid. I always wanted him
to get the best of that no good Tom. Now I am a parent with children of
my own and I still watch Tom and Jerry on my satellite TV from www.tvbydirect.com.

My
kids enjoy the cartoon also. My son like Tom. I don't know why, he
just always wants to see Tom catch Jerry. My daughter has different
favorite than either one of us, she like Spike. Spike is the dog that
makes appearances on the show. He usually helps Jerry and chases Tom.

Tom
usually is trying to eat Jerry. Jerry in turn is usually trying to
steal food from the!
fridge. Jerry mouse lives in a hole in the wall and often times is
interrupted while he is sleeping by something Tom is doing. If this is
the case, Jerry usually tries to go after Tom the cat to make him stop
whatever it is he is doing. One episode Tom kept Jerry up with his
playing of music while he was trying to get a female cat to be his
lady.

Tom and Jerry is a fun cartoon that can be enjoyed by children and parents alike, it is well worth watching.

In the course of one week I got a job, did arts and crafts with the kids every day, and got a chance to do Ian's sight words and math books with him. I got almost all the laundry done, and I even cleaned out a lot of my office room too so it looks more like and office and not a store-it-all-here room.

Friday began my formal training, and it's all done on-line. I had computer issues, and then I wasn't formally added into a chat room for official training, so I sat around almost all day wondering what was going on. I was freaking out a bit because it was like I was sitting on the edge of the very thing I have been dreaming of for 2 years, yet wasn't allowed to actually participate in it!

I got everything resolved though, so it looks like Monday will be the "real" day I start. I'm busy listening to all my training material again (there's a lot to learn on their system with regards to templates, software, and account specifics), and I'm making index cards to tape to my desk to help remind me of shortcuts on my first day.

Last night I went to see Eat Pray Love with a good friend of mine, and I wasn't too impressed. I think it was had to make a book like that "big screen" worthy, and a lot of the things I thought were important to the main characters self-discovery were either not put in the movie or were unable to be put in. I think that made the whole "experience" seem a lot less moving and amazing, yet I understand that they had to draw in "regular" people who aren't interested in the amazing outcome of mastering meditation or finding a piece of your soul you didn't even know existed. It was worth seeing though, and I plan to finish the book (I was re-reading it again before the movie came out but ran out of time), because this time around I'm getting even more out of it than the first time I read it.
I'm excited to go to Church today. My favorite Practitioner is speaking! He always delivers straight from the heart, and I leave there feeling completely refreshed.

My movie night was amazing! We got there at 7:30pm for the 9pm showing, and there was already a line. Instead of eating like we had planned, we stood in line so that we could be sure to get a seat. We got OK seats, then got some food for "dinner." We spent the net hour or so laughing and talking, then we watched Twilight. (I have to say, it was much better on the big screen!) After that we had another hour to wait, and then it was time for New Moon.

I loved it. I loved loved LOVED it! I have no idea why I thought it was so good, but it was. I even saw it again yesterday afternoon with Sean, LOL! He liked it too, so I know that it wasn't just me and my bouncing hormones.
I AM HOME!!!!! I missed the kids so much by the last day that I thought I was going to burst.

It was a long trip (1,400 miles and 6 hospitals in a week), but my co-worker and I had a lot of laughs during the week. We have a lot in common and share the same humor, so it made the week got by pretty quickly. I even got to sneak in the Harry Potter movie while we were in Tallahassee, so that was fantastic.

Still, it's great to be home. I'm exhausted right now, so I think I'm going to bed pretty soon. I'm going to have Ian sleep with me tonight so I can hold his hand...
I went to see Slumdog Millionaire at The Tampa Pitcher Show tonight with my mom and dad. The movie was pretty good, and it really made me appreciate America. I give thanks every day that I have been blessed to live here, but when I see movies like this which have to do with the slums and horrors of everyday living for these people, it makes my heart beat a little faster and my soul hurt a little bit to think that there are so many places in the world where people are hurting every day of their lives...
visit the Island Life blog and post your question. Make sure to visit the other participants too!

What are your weekend plans?

This weekend... Tonight we have DH's birthday dinner at my MIL's house, then tomorrow during the day we might go to Busch Gardens (not sure yet). Saturday night we're going to Zoo Boo (Halloween at our local family zoo), and then Sunday DH is gone all day so I might clean the house and do something fun with DS (like go swimming at my brother's house). Sunday night is the football game (Patriots!) so I'm pretty excited about that... I also plan to get through another session of my MT stuff and finish my exam for one of the holistic childcare courses, but those are mighty big dreams, LOL!

Swooning Over Johnny Depp

I love Johnny Depp. There's something so charismatic about him! I love his movies, especially the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie and Finding Neverland. They were do different, but so "Johnny"!

In Finding Neverland Johnny Depp plays a Scottish playwright named J.M. Barrie who is looking for some inspiration. He unexpectedly finds himself entwined with a family with a widowed woman and four fatherless children, and the story blossoms from there. Some of my favorite quotes include: "Porthos dreams of being a bear, and you want to shatter those dreams by saying he's *just* a dog? What a horrible candle-snuffing word. That's like saying, "He can't climb that mountain, he's just a man", or "That's not a diamond, it's just a rock." Just." and, " Young boys should never be sent to bed... they always wake up a day older."

Then you have the Pirates of the Caribbean, Curse of the Black Pearl movie. I just adore Deep's character, Jack Sparrow. He's sarcastic, out for #1 the whole time, and is uncharacteristically klutzy for a pirate!... There are a ton of great quotes from that movie as well, but I think one of my favorite scenes was when these words were uttered:

Jack Sparrow: [to Weatherby Swann] I think we've all arrived at a very special place. Spiritually, ecumenically, grammatically.
Jack Sparrow: I want you to know that I was rooting for you. Know that.
[to Commodore Norrington]
Jack Sparrow: Elizabeth... it would never have worked between us darling. I'm sorry... Will... nice hat. Friends... This is the day that you will ALWAYS remember as the day that you...
[backs up and trips over ledge]

Both of these movies are so different, but I'd have to say that my favorite part would be the one in Pirates of the Caribbean. I'll take humor over serious any day!

I'm super excited to see the new Johnny Depp movie, Sweeney Todd. I can't wait to see what he brings to his character in this film! I have to visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site soon and play around with all the information they have over there. You can also visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace and see what's going on. Tons of Sweeney Todd information is available!

Have you seen the trailers for the new Tim Burton film, Sweeny Todd? It's looks great! I went to visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site and, in true Tim Burton style, this looks like a really unique movie! I also got to visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace which was pretty cool to.

There's a great site related to the movie where you can confess past acts of revenge. You can call in, write, or video your confessions about past acts of revenge and then you get your very own "I Confess" badge when you're done, sort of like a bade of honor . I went on the site to see what people had to say, and I was pretty surprised by what people will admit to!

I have my past too, but I don't think that I'd take a video of myself admitting to a lot of it! I would, however, admit that when I was younger, my friend and I broke into the Jr. High-school and let all of the animals in the science room out of their cages. It was wild! Way more chaotic than I thought it was going to be, that's for sure. We didn't put them back in to their cages before leaving (what would have been the fun in that?) so the next day when the teachers came in there were guinea pigs, birds, ducks, rabbits, and snakes throughout the room! We were never caught, but I was always afraid that they'd figure out it was us someday. Ahhh, see now? I feel relieved that I got that out. Maybe you should head over there and do some confessing of your own!

It's almost time for the First Friday Weekend Artwalk!

Have you heard about the St. Augustine Artwalk yet? During the first weekend of every month lies the chance for a self-guided tour through St. Augustine to look at all the great artwork. Galleries remain open and you can walk the streets looking at everything from photography, architecture, print work... There's live music to enjoy and snacks to eat, as well as the ever-popular people watching, LOL!

I haven't been yet but Sean and I are planning to go with Ian the first weekend of December. I want to do something different and this event seems to be something that all of us will enjoy! They offer free parking and free sightseeing trolley tours that I know Ian will love and, truth be told, so will I. The last time I went to St. Augustine I only got the chance to see half of the town, and that was just not enough for me! This time I hope to learn even more about its history and see some art from the Floridians in the northern part of the state!

I'm going to try and get my parents to come too. They love St. Augustine and the art, so this even will be perfect for them!
